ESL Mother Language Marymount International School - Rome

"This is wonderful! Hearing the message directly from the children makes it very powerful. Why is there such a fear in schools of multilingualism? Why do people still believe exposure and use of other languages can hinder English language…"

Fabulous video--I love it! We--the EAL and Modern Languages departments--are trying to get a Mother Tongue program going at Jakarta International Middle School. Do you have any recommendations( or warnings!) about how to start? I keep reading about programs started by parents but, at such a large school, this seems unwieldy.

Thanks for posting this video and thanks for your response.

Hi again!

I just embedded your video as a resource for the EAL professional development module on the "Culture" page.
Now we are using your wonderful book and this video as resources--great job on both Eithne!

Hi Eithne,

It doesn't matter why you made the video, it is the message--in the words of children--that is so powerful. Thanks for sharing.

What a wonderful video for parents and kids. Bravo! and so professional... was there someone at school who helped? Also, so glad that in this world of white boards and SMART boards I'm not the only one using a chalkboard! (I love mine). Congrats again! - Nancy in Muscat
